Important things to know

With many years of collective experience between us, we know all too well that planning your big day or special event can be a fairly stressful time with so many things to juggle and consider.  Decisions have to be made quickly and all too often selecting the right entertainment or band is unfortunately seen as something of an afterthought.  With such a wide and varied choice of potential options on offer, choosing the perfect act from a long list of DJ’s, Bands and other line-up possibilities can get very difficult and time-consuming;quite honestly its the last thing you need!  So, to help you figure it all out, we, THE PLECTRUMS, have come up with a simple list of Frequently Asked Questions our previous clients have typically asked us prior to making a booking with the band. We hope that this short and simple list of questions will help you when hopefully making your decision to   to choose The PLECTRUMS for your big day. Q: Where are you based and how far are you willing to travel? 

A: The band are based in Glasgow and are willing to accept gigs up to approx. 80miles away.

Q: How much does it cost to hire the band?

A:  Price is dependent on location and size of wedding venue. Please  contact us  (07845 578 236) or email us for a quote (info@theplectrums.co.uk).

Q: How many members are in the band and what instruments do you play?

A: We pride ourselves on being a 100% live band. As such, we are a five piece band and consist of: 

GORDON – Sax, Keyboards and Vocals

NIKOS – Vocals and Guitar

MARK – Bass Guitar

ROB – Lead Guitar and Vocals

RYAN – Drums and Vocals

Q: What time do you arrive at the venue?

A: We arrive approx.1 hour before the agreed start time.

Q: How long does it take to set-up on the night?

A: Depending on access, the band can normally set-up and be ready to play within 45mins. We would then take about 15 mins to freshen up/get changed before commencing with the evening’s entertainment.

Q: How long do you typically play for?

A: Typically we play from 8pm – 12midnight with a break during the evening buffet. Other times can be negotiated if required.  We do offer a service to extend our hours beyond our usual slot with an extended live set or a DJ set,. Please get in touch about the cost for this.

Q: Do you play music during your break?

A: We can provide music during the break via MP3 if you wish so.  You can also provide us with an ipod of your own with a chosen playlist you would like to hear.

Q: Can we choose the first dance?

A: We are happy to learn any song for your first dance provided you give us at least two months notice.  We should point out that some songs can be problematic depending on their arrangement. In this event we would suggest that you provide a CD or MP3 file with your song on it that we can play on the night for you.

Q: Can you perform a Ceilidh set for us?

A:  Yes, we can perform up to 30mins of live ceilidh music  for an extra charge and depending on the availability of a fiddle player to join us on the evening. We also offer an option to provide ceilidh music through our PA system viaMP3 at no extra charge. The choice is yours!

Q: Can we provisionally book the band?

A: Yes, we can hold the date for you for up to two weeks.  Should another couple or group make an enquiry regarding the same date within this time we will give you ‘first option’ to confirm.

Q: Do you offer a contracted service and how do we book you?

A: YES –  Firstly, contact us to check we have your date available.  Once you have agreed to book our band we will provisionally hold your booking date for 7 days until we are in receipt of a £200 non-refundable deposit to secure the booking. We will then issue you with a ‘confirmation’ email to confirm your booking with us is secured. The remaining balance is then payable up to 48 hours before the event by banks transfer or on the night prior to the gig in cash, 

Q: Does the band provide all of the necessary equipment for the gig? 

  A: Absolutely – we provide all of our own music, lighting and sound equipment and everything is fully PAT tested.  If your venue requires copies of our certificates then let us know and we’ll happily take care of it.

Q: How does the band dress?

A: You don’t have to worry about some scruffy musicians turning up on your big day; we all dress very smart and make sure no attention is distracted from the happy couple. We normally wear white shirts, red ties and black waistcoats
